I won this book in a giveaway hosted by the wonderful Carol of Raised in Cotton. Carol owns a magnificent home decorating store and is getting ready to open an online shoppe.

Feathering Your Nest is a how-to book. This book harkens back a little to the old Victoria Magazine days: darker interiors, classic colors (no white shabby chic going on here). The rooms are a little more formal and some photos are repeated in the book. For more reviews try Amazon.com.
The chapters include:
Nest Building Basics
Common Spaces
Private Spaces
Work Space
Building Blocks
The designer, Mary Carol Garrity, gives practical advice on how to organize yourself for your decorating project. She wants to help you define your style. Her idea of decorating has been influenced by nature in these last few years. Not just using rustic elements, but using the way nature approaches the concept of feathering your nest. For instance, when a bird builds a nest, it hunts very carefully for what it will add to its home. Mary believes the same approach should be taken when we decorate. She wants us to sit down and think about the things we love, and work from there. She is so right! You save time and money that way.
I’ve pictured a few pages.
Enjoy…
Thank you so much, Carol!

simply beautiful...This seems a lovely book!
The bedroom photo is my favorite. It is feminine without being so girly a man couldn't sleep there. Very soft & inviting!
Wonderful book, think I will put it on my wish list...
I love the bedroom, it is so pretty...

I hate to cook but I think I might enjoy it if I had that lovely kitchen! And I can just imagine the wonderful dreams I could have in that beautiful bedroom. What a lovely book to win.
I am thinking this might have to slip into my next book order. I have seen it on other blogs but some time ago and it really looks great. Thanks for sharing the pages too. I see she has a Christmas book but it is not available here on this side of the pond. Boohoo!
