Whisper White

When it comes to color, it is shades of creamy white, light grays and touches of barely-there pink and blue that resonate in my heart. I do love pops of hot color here and there but always against a white backdrop.

Here are some vignettes using white . . .

A pearly vintage crown with crystals

Creamy whites mixed with crystal

Vintage velvety white flowers

This old fan from the 1920’s has become a favorite item.

Beautiful embossed silver details on the handle of the fan

Antique etched crystal aperitif glasses

The idea of living in light draws me to an ethereal color palate. When I decorate a room, light plays a huge factor. I think of how the room reflects it throughout the day and how it softens with the coming of evening.

Hi Nancy!

These are colors that go with anything and everything and calm the soul!
I LOVE the paper flowers you made in a previous post. They turned out so beautiful! Cost is a very important thing these days and all my projects have been very cost-effective of late.
I've been enjoying visiting Crowns & Castles blog. Very lovely place to visit. Thanks for the site!!

Hugs, Sherry

Bonjour Nancy! You have set the standard for me...I am trying to get the "White" look in my photos, but really, I don't have a lot of white in my decor. It is just lovely what you have done. Hey, what are we "waiting" for in that vile of fairy dust? Bisous, Anita

Nancy, your images looks so pretty...i love how white looks too...if i were to start all over on my house, it would be all white with silver touches and little bits of pale color...

Absolutely beautiful! I have learned to love the shades of white; however, with three dogs, a cat (and my husband) it would not be bright and clean for long:) It is so nice to be able to enjoy others decor. Thanks for sharing!

This is so beautiful. Especially in this time of the year light is important. Our house was all brown and dark green (think army green) when we bought it. I was sooo unhappy. We have made everything lighter, used whites and creams, light blues. Now even the guy who cleans our central heating once a year told me: this house has changed from a dark and unpleasant spot to a warm and cosy home.

Gorgeous! That fan is just beautiful! My mom used to have a creamy colored lace fan, and it had a bit of gold sparkle in the lace. I wonder whatever happened to it? I'm going to have to ask her. Like so many other things, she probably got rid of it without asking her kids if they wanted it first! OK, my tantrum is over now! ~Lori

Stumbled across your blog recently and cannot believe that I have missed it for so long. I saw your beautiful shoe creations in Somerset Life and didn't put the two together until the other day. Do your lovely shoes come in my size??? Like one of Cinderella's nasty stepsisters, I do believe I could "squish" my foot into one.

What a crown! Today I felt the need to wear my "crown" ring. Seeing your beautiful crown reminded me of my morning. Every girl needs a queenly touch. Just call me Queen Colleen! That's what I tell my children and husband daily. My daughter bought me a tiny tiara for my birthday. So pretty, it was the perfect gift.

I can hardly wait to read more of your posts and to drool over those delectable shoes.

I have always adored white, especailly white rooms. It makes me feel peaceful, calm, and that all is right with the world, somehow. It must be the way the light reflects and bounces off white. Or something like that - whatever it is, I just love it! ::Jill

Honestly, this post could be a spread from the original Victoria magazine... from one of their gorgeous January white issues. Such loveliness! Thanks so much for taking time to share these with us.

I love the elegance of white!
We were all hoping to get our first nice white coat of snow last week but it passed us by. Everyone was a little sad... I love to see how the light reflecting off it and feel the crunch under foot.
Lovely photos Nancy!
