A Space in Time

Photo © Fete et Fleur Designs ~ Cloudy Sky

Today, I awoke with thunder and lightning rolling overhead. My heart raced from being startled awake. The thunder lasted ten minutes and then faded off into the distance. A quiet set in around me.

Do you ever wish you could stop time? Just for a moment? And in that moment let time wash over you and experience everything in a deeper sense. Lately, when I find myself stressing out, I breathe deeply and settle into myself and wait. I am surrounded by a sense of wellness, and then my heart is calm again.

The idea of being outside of time is comforting to me. In a fast-paced world, where we hardly have a moment to breath, it is nice to have a place to linger, where all things stop moving around us.

I say to myself, “It’s time to get off the train.” In that space between times, I wander in fields knee-high with buttercups and trail my hands in the tall grass. Eventually, the train whistle blows, telling me it is time to leave. That moment in the in-between is bittersweet, but I know I will come back to this place of peace . . . where all things stand still and I feel the grace.

What a heartwarming post...and so beautifully descriptive. Your sentiments are shared by so many, yet so few of us could paint such an vivid mental image!

Thank you:-)

I hear ya...I am burning the candle at both ends and I just long to sit quiet. I will get home tonight, play my harp, sit with my magnificent husband and share quiet moments. It is a cherished thing, silence. May you find peace everyday. Love always, ta belle soeur qui t'aime...Anita

I know exactly what you mean and yes, I wish I could stop time for a moment. Last night we had a crash of thunder for only a couple of minutes. It was kind of haunting...with the frogs that were chirping wildly outside. :) Strange weather.

how beautiful Nancy...i think we all need to do that every day...just stop and enjoy a moment of quiet and peace...the world is crazy and it is too easy to get swept up in the drama sometimes...

Oh how lovely and peaceful dear Nancy. As I read your words I took a deep breath and I could see your buttercups. Thank you for the wonderful moments off the train!

Loving hugs, Sherry

Great post and photo. I need to try to stop time and relax. Too many pressures lately. Imaging fields of buttercups sounds heavenly.

What a lovely thought! You know, I have a moment in time that I have frozen in my mind's eye and my heart. It's an autumn day and I was playing in a big pile of leaves with some friends as a girl and I remember saying to myself, "I am going to remember this moment forever!". You know, I have! It brings back a feeling of peace and sheer happiness everytime I replay that moment in my head. :)

What a beautiful, peaceful post. It is a good reminder for all of us to take a step back and reconnect to ourself. It is amazing what the benefits are if you do this a few times a day - just for a few minutes. If you make it part of your routine you will eventually be able to train your body to release stress quicker. I work with an amazing Osteopath who has taught me a lot about releasing stress, I sould blog about it. It has been very helpful to me.
Thanks again for the lovely visualization, have a peaceful day.

Beautiful post, beautiful picture…

I do take the time to “stop”, although a photo is the only thing
powerful enough to truly stop time.

Nevertheless, memories of those moments are just as powerful…

When those moments hit me, I'm usually in a place where I've only been in my dreams. Whether it's some town in Europe or a place that doesn't even exist, I always hate leaving it to get back on the train. Beautiful post, Nancy!
