Prancy Pony

In the aftermath of our Easter holiday, I found this little fellow in a memory box. Having just posted about my childhood red princess shoes, it seemed appropriate to mention this little fellow too. He has been with me for many years. When I was a babe he was my constant companion. He had a pull string I would tug on and he followed whereever I went. His paper covered body seems to have escaped the ravages of time and my tiny hands.

It still makes me laugh to see his head bobble back and forth. Obviously, a toy made to last. I wonder why they don’t make them like this anymore?

LOL! That brings back fond memories! I remember that my best friend as a child had this toy in her family! I remember pulling it around when I would go to play at her house. It was handed down from the oldest to the youngest (my friend). Cute!

What a cutie, your Prancy Pony, he reminds me of a Fisher Price dog, we used to have, but that didn't survive our hands :-(

You are right; too bad they don't make them like this anymore. Perhaps it's because a lot of people only pay attention to the price, thus causing Western manufacturers to stop or to move to countries like China. Chinese toys are not comparable with vintage western toys, because they are mass produced without love for the product.
So we can cherish our old toys even more!

Wow, Nancy!

You've really taken GREAT care of this little childhood treasure. I can just see you now, pulling him around behind you as you wander through your house. :)

Hugs,

Kate

I love it! I still have my favorite stuffed animal from childhood-a stuffed St. Bernard named Bernie. His fur is a bit matted but he still has that same wonderful look about him:)

Blessings,

Kim

Old toys are so cheerful. My mom has all of mine on display in her guest room and it makes me so happy to go in there!

Nancy,
Oh my, I have a pony like yours! Mine is blue, the bead on his tail is gone and his ears have a few chew marks from a feisty pet. I believe mine is named Patch Pony because it has a patchwork pattern on it. Tomorrow I am going to look in my keepsake box and see. Does your click clack when it rolls? Both of my children drug mine around and it was very much loved. Thank you for the sweet memory!

Ah, the memories! When I was little, my mom was a secretary at our church. During the summer, I used to go to work with her and spend the whole day playing in the church. They had one of these ponies in the nursery. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane! ~Lori
