The Red Shoes

She awoke to the morning sun streaming in through eyelet curtains. She rushed to the closet, threw open the door and dropped to the floor, cradling the shiny red shoes. She had worn these pretty little shoes every day for the last two months. They were her princess shoes. When she put them on, she was magically transformed into a vision of loveliness. She slipped them on her feet and stood up, smoothing her wrinkled pajamas. She ran to the mirror and there, looking back at her, was a princess. The same princess she discovered the first day she wore her beloved shoes. She waved at her reflection and danced around the room with joy.

A mini tale inspired by my childhood red shoes, pictured below.

Wishing you and yours a beautiful Easter,
~ N ~

Love the shoes and the story! Those are the shoes that I always wanted but somehow I always ended up with brown real leather inside and out shoes with laces, very unelegant. I hated them, but since I loved to run and climb as a child my mother must have thought those were the best for me :-(
Happy Easter to you and your family!

What an enchanting tale. As I read, my mind wandered back to sweet memories of my daughter and her first pair of ballet slippers.....tiny hands pulling at the soft, flexible leather as she wiggled her toes until her feet disappeared, one after the other, into a slipper. She, dressed in a pink tulle tutu, stood and began to twirl, again and again, across the room.....and back again, to music only she could hear. We all clapped, and laughed, and envisioned her debut with the Royal Ballet. Thank you for sharing your red shoes, they are very sweet.

Best Wishes,
Kay

That's so darling! My youngest son had a pair of red boots that he wore out. He just loved them. Used to show everyone. Now they sit on the window sill in the mudroom. I smile everytime I see them.

Blessings.. Polly
