Bits and Pieces ~ Inspiring Creativity

I love working with bits and pieces. I sometimes leave a set of items out to inspire myself to create. The beautiful rhinestone bauble in the photo below was given to me by my Mother. I've always wanted to do something with it, but have been afraid to commit it permanently to an art piece.

I recently took apart a small sachet. It was tattered and torn. The peachy ring was inspiring me big time.

Isn't it lovely?

I decided to sew a new sachet body for it, in white silk. My sewing skills are pretty bad, so it's not the neatest piece. First, I took the circle pattern from the original sachet, drew four circles onto the silk, and cut them out.

I then attached the peachy ring to the top layer. I gently tacked it down with as few stitches as possible. It looks messy, but you won't see this at all when it's put together.

I then sewed the pieces back-to-back like a pillow, leaving a small hole for the stuffing and enough room to be able to turn it inside out.

Voila! A scrumptious new sachet.

And I think a wonderful resting place for this beautiful piece from my Mother.

This is the next project. This sweet little piece was given to me by Miss Ulla. She hoped I could find something to do with it. I feel another sachet coming on. What do you think?

GO FOR IT! You are on your way to creating yet another lovely piece. I still have and always will cherish, a lovely little marquisite and amethyst brooch that your maman gave me years ago; it sits daintily on a little puffy pillow as well.

COUNTDOWN IS ON! Anita

Oh ma belle, that celebration was last week and unfortunately, I had to leave before the reception at the end of the ceremony because Ruben was stuck in St. Paul at a television studio where he was on T.V.!!! The show should be on-line in a week or so, and he did so well. Details later...but I got no photos! VoilĂ  pourquoi I used other images to get my message across!!!!Anita
