A Bit of a Ramble . . . Fall . . . and Ms. Strong’s Dancing Shoes

I’m back for a quickie post. This summer was a crazy busy one. It really made me have to adjust my priorities. While I love blogging here and leaving fun, romantic and inspiring ideas for you and me, I just can’t do it regularly so I’m opting to post when things strike my fancy. If you subscribe to my feed using your reader you’ll know when I’m posting. Sorry, I don’t keep a follower button on my blog, but you can still follow me if you like, just add me to your follower list.

This summer has been filled with chores. We cleaned and organized the house and as I said in the last few posts, I thought it would take all summer, and it did! We finally cleaned out our garage too. It’s now a spacious space where I can do our laundry and not feel claustrophobic.

Kitchen brick wall update:

I never got brave enough to paint my kitchen walls. They still look like this (click here to see). I’m such a chicken when it comes to my brick walls. I figure there is no going back once I’ve painted them, and I’m just not ready for that kind of commitment.

A little bit of the beach inside . . .

I purchased this painting on Etsy as an early birthday gift for my hubby. He loves the beach, and the colors of this painting are his very favorites. It hangs on the wall in our kitchen and gives the impression that you are looking out onto this beach scene beyond. He is loving it, and so am I.

Plums from our Satsuma plum tree . . .

I’d just about given up on our small little dwarf of a tree, and then it came to life. These are super sweet with an amazing burgundy colored flesh. YUMMY!!

Fall is knocking on my door . . .

I know it’s early, but pumpkins are making their way out of our fall boxes and taking up residence in our home already. I’ve never been this early to jump on the fall decorating bandwagon, but I can’t help myself.

Last but not least: Ms. Strong’s dancing shoe.

I found this beautiful dainty shoe all by its lonesome. Its amazing embroidery and the fact that it was a dancing shoe from the 1820’s captured my heart.

On the bottom of this sweet slipper it says, Great Grandmother Strong’s Dancing Shoe ~1820. Perhaps she wore it on the night she met her true love. If this had been my grandmother’s shoe, I could never have parted with it. It has now found a treasured place in our home.

Until next time . . .

Have a beautiful Fall!

Lovely images. I love your new header. On the subject of your brick wall...Why don't you do a light white wash on them? I think it would be beautiful.

Hello dear lovely Nancy,
Congrats on organizing your home this summer!! It's wonderful also that you spent time with your family when you could, it is important About blogging, I feel like you.

Your post is a beautiful one. The suble shad of your walls, Bills birthday painting, (please tell him Happy Birthday for me). And that dancing slipper is positively dreamy. Glad if found you to give it a good home.

Thank you for your kind words about the theater.
It would be grand if you would write a story!! That is the hard part for me. Perhaps publish a book or make a video together!! Then use our $$ and take a trip treasure hunting in France. Do you remember I dreamed we went to France? Maybe we will.

Hello Sweetie,
Love the beach picture. It is so lovely. The plums do look yummy. My orange and satumas should be ready in a couple of weeks and the lemons also.
It has been a very hectic summer I believe for most of us.I am now back to blogging.I hope I can maintain.

The dancing shoe is the most sweetest and so lovely shoe ever.I love it.
My friend bought me a lone 1908 ladies boot for my birthday.Someone from the 50's filled the boot up with some kind of plaster.I was able to chip some of it out.Thats when I found the old newspaper in it.Dating from the 50's.I think they used it for a doorstop.Anyway I have it now and like you I will cherish it.
You take care Dear,
Marie Antionette

These wonderful images have put me in the mood for fall.
And the basket of plums from your own backyard makes me want to don that pretty little dancing shoe, no matter how silly I'd look dancing on one foot.
