Cinderella Gets Married . . .

Here is the beautiful bride, slipping on her wedding shoes as she dreams of dancing with her Prince Charming.

I can not tell you what a blessing it was to have this pre-wedding event at our home. It was the happiest place on earth.

We wanted it to be an unforgettable time for the bride, so we filled her room with lovely items to make her feel like a princess.

I made floral arrangements, two of which graced the arches of the gazebo. This arrangement below was the center piece on their table. I used creamy roses, Queen Anne’s Lace and blooming privet.

We danced into the night, laughing and reminiscing, savoring every magical moment.

The Most Magical Time of Your Life

Your wedding is one of the most magical times of your life. I can still remember the feelings I had during our engagement. They were of love, and of being loved and cherished. When the day of our wedding came, and I saw his beautiful face smiling back at me from that long walk down the aisle, I felt a quiet peace fill me and the church. It was truly a holy moment.

I’ll be away from blogland for a bit. I hope to create a lovely and peaceful space for her day.

I haven’t been the best about visiting this summer, but I want you all to know how much you lift my spirits with your comments. When I get back it will be time to have a fun summer giveaway.

See you all soon!

My New Love and the Weekend

I've fallen in love with these sweet plants called Tillandsia, otherwise known as air plants. Their making a fun and funky addition to our home.

Tillandsia are from the Bromeliad family. All they require are water and air. They grow without soil so you can put them anywhere there is bright filtered light. How easy is that?!

This weekend we’re hoping to clean out the garage. Yippee! No, not really, but it has to be done.

Thank you all for your encouragement on the brick in my kitchen. I'm going to meet with the earth plaster people for hints and tips next week. I hope I don't get discouraged. I really want to do this myself.

I leave you with more photos from home:

Creamy and Dreamy

This chair is near my bedside. I've put the lavender pillows I received from Marie's giveaway to good use. They smell heavenly!

See you all soon and have a great weekend!

Summer Projects

We took our house apart last week. It’s still in disarray and will probably be like this until the end of summer. The challenge for us is to create more room and storage.

My first project was to move our chippy old black piano into our living room/bedroom area so we could have more room in our kitchen. Our kitchen is the gathering space for our family and friends. We desperately needed more room in there, so it was either get rid of the piano or make it work for our space. To make the piano transition easier, I painted it a creamy white. It took two days of sanding, 3 coats of primer, and 2 coats of paint. I added two mismatched lamps I had floating around the house for light. I love the way it turned out.

Adore this sweet seashell finial!

My next task was to empty closets and figure out where to put things we really needed versus things we weren’t using. I’m still working on this one.

Now for the main project! Every summer as the light changes with the length of days, our kitchen becomes a cave for 3 to 4 months. The reason: most of the walls in our kitchen are made of red tumbled, rudely constructed brick! I've decided to go for it and paint them white! I’m starting with the wall with the fireplace. Since I’m doing this myself, I’m hoping to use a natural earth mud product to even out the surface of the brick. I’m not comfortable using joint compound. It’s too toxic for me to handle. After I mud over the wall, I will then paint it white! I’m not sure how long this will take me, but I promise before and after photos when I’m done. If anyone has any advice on working with brick walls, please let me know.

I’m hoping to take it from this . . . .

To this . . .
