Dreaming


I love vintage millinery. There is something about an old crumbling silk rose that makes me begin to dream.

I dream of things like who owned this lovely flower . . . and was it her first dance that she wore it to . . . maybe it was pinned to the waist of her dress . . . or tucked behind her ear, while she sang a song to the man she loved.

To me vintage roses are full of mystery, mysterious past lives that we will never know about.

Except for this one . . .

A beautiful champagne silk rose

This one was my mother’s. She gave it to me years ago and I have treasured it since that day. I live far from my Mom and when I look at this rose it brings me closer to her.

    Nancy, The vintage millinery flowers are so lovely. Definately flowers to dream about. I love the champagne silk rose that belonged to your mother. Another wonderful keepsake to treasure always. Interesting, today my mother and I read a small inspirational book called "Dreams of Flower Gardens" It was full of lovely prose and poetry.

    The champagne color rose is beautiful,
    I don’t think I have seen one quite like this.
    I adore the bunch of violets …very sweet…
    My kids when small always picked a bouquet of violets for me
    in the spring. In fact I went out and bought a small vase just for this
    event……..

    Hello Nancy,First ,Thank you for your comments on my blog.Your Mothers rose is very unusal.I've never seen one like it.I know you will treasure it always.I love all of the flowers,but I like that one best and also the one with the glass bird.I think you have a beautiful site.PS..I do use Snows feathers for Angel wings and such.Hugs Marie Antionette

    Now of course, I want to know how you display them! They are lovely Nancy ~ romantic and truly dreamy. I love the idea of wrapping a rose in mink, how enchanting ~ like a double season...

    I so Agree, I am a Huge Lover of Millinery. Lately I have been Embellishing them with old rhinestones and they are even more Gorgeous. The two white ones are stunning. Jamie

    These are breathtaking, Nancy! I especially love the violets--so unusual to see velvet violets. But I can't help wondering where on earth do you have space to store all these lovelies!

    Breath taking, Nancy! I'm so happy for you that you have that special one from your mom to treasure! My Mom died in September, and now my dad an I are estranged because of something my mom wanted me to have, and he won't give it to me. I still have my memories, and no one can take them!
