Dream Class

We had twelve students and it was AWESOME!!

Ulla and I arrived at the Castle at 9:00 AM. We quickly set up for our class and waited for our students to arrive. It was a blast from the moment it started! The women in our class were incredibly nice and excited to be there to learn from us. They created beautiful shoes with imaginative flair. I really enjoyed the bold color combinations and embellishments they used on their shoes. I was pretty nervous at first, but I settled into a rhythm and everyone encouraged me along.

Ulla circulated among the tables while I taught my portion of the class. She gently guided and encouraged our fellow artists. Ulla is one of the best teachers I have ever had the privilege to teach with or learn from. Her imagination and creativity flow over you and they open your mind to possibilities you didn’t know existed.

After lunch Ulla taught her gorgeous regency style shoe. We all loved the ease of the pattern she had created.



I made this little round toed lovely. It reminds me of a shoe Jane Austin might have worn to a wedding.

I want to give a special thank you to Diana (your stories and shared inspirations from your days of making shoes), Martha (your generosity with paper flowers and those gorgeous out of this world ribbons), Patricia (your sensitive heart, advice, and encouragement), Amy (my callous-fingered sister, you made me laugh), and Cynthia (I’m going to be buying a boatload of those quickie glue pens)!!

I couldn’t have asked for a better first teaching experience. It went like a dream.

Ulla, I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for believing I could do this. You’re the BEST!!

And thank you to Karima for letting us host this class in your beautiful and magical shoppe.





When I got home, my hubby had a beautiful salad waiting for me.


After the salad, I put my feet up and fell asleep.

    I just knew it! Of course you are a wonderful teacher and of course every body had a swell time and managed to create an original Nancy Burns Marie shoe! I am so happy that you enjoyed it so much! I think everybody who visits you here is sorry that she wasn't able to meet you in your first class and to make such a lovely shoe as well! Now enjoy the good feeling afterwards!

    Nancy, proof of what a great teacher you are...all of the shoes made by your students are so beautiful...they all look so pretty lined up in a row...i'm glad you had such a good time...i really like the shoes you are wearing as you take your nap, they are so cute!!!

    Like dancing fairies the shoes lined up and then just as fast as they
    came that were off to grace another’s fairyland.
