Valentine's Day is almost here. I love this holiday! I wanted to do something a bit different this year for decoration.
I drew my inspiration from this beautiful heart tower made by Carolyn Quartermaine. This photo is from her book, Carolyn Quartermaine Revealed. I wish this amazing designer would write another book. I adore her style and if I could redo my entire home her design aesthetic would rule.
I searched everywhere for a base like hers, but couldn't find one. It was so frustrating. Her base has those long beautiful scrolling legs (drool). In the end I settled for a candlestick holder and paper plate to make up my base.
Not as elegant as Ms. Quartermaine's, but I think it's fun. Wouldn't this be perfect for a Valentine's Day wedding? I used poster board, pink construction paper and liquid gold leaf.

I love your piece really as much as Miss Quatermaine's. It is so frustrating when you cannot something you think you need (especially when you think that you once had it and brought it to the Goodwill, or left it at a flea market, thinking: but what on earth do I have to do with it?). But I think you succeeded well in using the candle stick holder. It inspired me too, I have to search for that book! Have a lovely day and enjoy the upcoming festivities.
