We’ve been having strange weather here. It’s almost as if winter has returned. It gave me a perfect opportunity to finish some winter projects I had set aside in a basket, not to be seen again until next winter.
Many years ago, I taught myself to knit and I really enjoyed it tremendously. It's been fun remembering this skill and creating something substantial that can be used everyday.

I love these elegant scissors!
These little beauties are pretty expensive, but I had amazing luck when I found the ones above. I walked into my favorite fabric shop and found them at 70% off!!
I find that using graceful tools brings a greater pleasure in creating projects.
Do you have special tools that make you feel the same way about your projects?

Oh yes...what an even lovelier idea to photograph them,Nancy! Yes, having good tools and displaying them literally gives me a tingle in my body and then I want to create. Oh how I wish we were closer in proximity! You must show us what you are creating out of the pink yarn!

Nancy, what lovely creative photographs. I'm like you and love beautiful sewing tools.
Hugs Karen
I love this post and I agree completely with your comment about using lovely tools when creating. I believe we should do all things in life this way-make all things beautiful. I sew on an old featherweight sewing machine which gives me a feeling of nostalga when I sew. When I have my pot of tea I use loose leaf teas in a china teapot with a china tea cup. It makes something as simple as a pot of tea special:)
I have done a lot of sewing and knitting over the years and would not have been able to get through it without good tools, I have new and antique tools, one of my favorites it a beautiful old crimper that I have used on ribbon.

all of my tools are quite boring...nothing like your pretty scissors...lovely photos Nancy!!!
I love wonderful sewing tools, I use to have a small collection of enamel thimbles but sold them about ten years ago. Still kicking myself for that one…

PS… Lovely pictures…
I love your beautiful tools! My mother had a collection of silver sewing tools. I inherited it, I have a pair of scissors just like yours. Those pretties are 'on display' but I never use them to be quite honest. I think I would be scared that something happened to them, just like I'm inclined not to use my beautiful supplies but to keep them, save them for when? I don't know. But in case of the beautiful tools I have to say that I enjoy them 'on display' too.
Hello Nancy,
I am actually working on some posts about this...my most interesting tools...
And your scissors are fabulous!

Ooh, those two yarn pics make me want to snuggle up in a cozy blanket.
I agree about pretty tools. They make creating even more fun. In my writing work I LOVE pretty notebooks and folders and pens.
I agree, beautiful tools make handicrafting into a more beautiful activity. I was so sad that the only crochet needle I could find in a large size was plastic. :(
My crochet project is in a pretty, cloth-lined basket, and I have the stork scissors, too!
beautiful photos -- especially the yarn and scissors.
Makes me think of the concept of 'slow Art' - kind of like 'Slow Food'... Beautiful tools, beautiful materials and a loving heart, how can the end result not be perfect?
