Yesterday was May Day!
Creating May Day baskets is one of my favorite things to do. We got up early yesterday morning and picked all these lovely blooms to create our baskets.
We place them on door handles or porch steps of unsuspecting neighbors.
There was another bloom I created as well. Her name is Fleur. This is my first attempt at anything like this, and while she’s crude, I love her. I need to learn to paint so I can give her a face. Still, there is something elegant in her facelessness.
She will be a gift to a sweet little lady who will hopefully love her.
Wishing you all a beautiful weekend . . .

Nancy,
Fleur is lovely and exquisite. You created her with such wonderful expressive posture, it is all the face feature that she needs. I love your creativity! As always, you inspire me.

Fleur's faceless beauty actually evokes serenity and peace. The lucky recipients of your May baskets will be thrilled to receive such gifts at their doorsteps.
Have a lovely weekend.
Well, now I wish I lived closer to you so you'd leave a charming basket on MY door handle! :)
I think your Fleur is beautiful and perfect as she is - without a face. She's so simple and elegant.
Happy Weekend,
xoxo,
Kate
Oh my, to be that 'sweet little lady'. I'd be thrilled! Fleur is gorgeous, faceless and all. The gown is exquisite. You definitely have a magic touch with paper. All the details are delightful.

Your creation is exquisite. The lines of her frame are so delicate, with her long willowy limbs. But her gown is what sparks the imagination. Her gown brings to mind the gossamer wings of a damselfly.

Hi Nancy,
Happy late May Day to you and your fantastic home grown flowers and May Day Queen! She is fantastic, and has that same beautiful essence that you put into your slippers.
You go girl!

Fleur is absolutely gorgeous! Your first attempt? Is there no end to your talents?
I never knew that beauty needs no face until I saw Fleur. She is the picture of grace.
Happy May day to you Nancy. I'm sure your neighbours were so pleased with those lovely baskets.
I love your sweet little doll Fleur, I remember the sneak peek awhile ago and she is so lovely
Hugs karen
Nancy she is beautiful.

Oh Nancy! I thought those were silk flowers! WOW. My girlfriend Angela who works with Ruben at the University just loves your blog! My friend Julie, who just had a great sale this weekend also admires your work. I love how we are all connected in some way! Fleur is DARLING and she will make someone very happy! Yes, isn't Ulla just a peach? I have met more incredible people through blogging and our mutual interest in art and beautiful things. How cool is that...ta belle soeur qui t' aime, Anita
Fleur is just darling! You are so talented, Nancy!
Oh Nancy, I love your May Day baskets, wish I was one of those lucky neighbors.
My Allie had a birthday party many years ago on May Day. For a party activity, we made paper roses and put them in lace tussie cones. The girls put them on our neighbors doors.
The girls loved it and so did the neighbors. The girls also made a few to take home so that they could treat their neighbors as well…
I love Fleur , she is wonderful…

Fleur is lovely!!
How sweet to give all of your pretty blooms to the neighbors.
Love that!
Have a great day!

OH, she is a beauty! :)
Nancy,
She is gorgeous!!! She does not need a "face", she has one and an expression too, one that is shy and demure. You can tell by the tilt of her head. If you do anything at all, just as a dab of blush to her cheeks. I love her blue petaled dress. I imagine tiny Marie slippers on her delicate feet or perhaps ballet slippers to dance around the May Pole amid your lovely flowers. Your garden must be fantastic. Lucky neighbors. I hope you have a wonderful week!
Nancy,
What a wonderful tradition of leaving flowers on May Day. I had never heard that before but I will have to remember it in the future. The lovely 'Fleur' is beautiful-can't wait to see her darling face:)
Blessings,
Kim
You may have found a new calling. Your little doll is beautiful and delicate, just like your shoes. Personally I don't think she needs a face. I do like Miss Sandy's idea of a little blush on her cheeks. I look forward to more of your creations!
Nancy, your garden must be so wonderful...because the flowers in your may day basket are so very pretty...what a sweet and giving person you are, i know your neighbors were thrilled to find that bit of beauty on their porch...i think your doll is SO beautiful, i would not add a face...she does not need one...she is perfectly sweet just as she is!!!
Nancy, Fleur is so beautiful! I really love her without the face, she is SO elegant and I think she has exquisite beauty. Sometimes a face doesn't suit a doll. Your Fleur is so pretty she doesn't need it :)
Oh Nancy...you've done it again!! You have created something so beautiful. How do you do it? Have a wonderful day, and I hope Fleur loves her new home.
xxoo
Oh how I remember the May baskets and leaving them on the doors of those in the neighborhood... what beautiful flowers...
I must say ...your doll ...she is LOVELY!! I like that she is faceless as it allows you to envision her however you wish.... and she is quite elegant without one....
..
I do hope we get to see more of these pretties..... lucky recipient of such a special gift.
LOTS OF HUGS

pretty fleurs and pretty Fleur! Rachaelxo
your may day tradition is the sweetest thing and very motivating!
your little fleur is breathtaking. so sweet. instead of a face i wonder if she would look cute with a few eyelashes as if she's looking down at her flowers. she is very elegant as-is. lovely!
xo
I think she's sweet and a bit mysterious without a face! It lets each person imagine her with a look from their own imagination. Very beautiful...great job! ~Lori
