A Busy Week and New Storage

Hi everyone!

It's been a really busy week for me, and I haven’t been able to visit much. I'll be sharing what has kept me busy soon, so stay tuned . . .

Meanwhile . . .

I'm always looking for ways to store items in our little home, and this fits the bill perfectly. This roll away vintage basket will now tote papers and supplies for me throughout our home. I don’t have a permanent work space, so this rolling basket makes it easy to set up anywhere.

The handle of this basket was a bit rough and rusty. I wrapped a ribbon around it, and added the millinery flower for whimsy.

The inside liner is a large antique monogrammed pillow case. I've had this pillow case stored away for years. It's nice to see it out and having a useful life.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Love the monogrammed pillow case and you are so right to use it, instead of leaving it in the closet, where no one can admire it. I see these carts on all american blogs but our carts for doing groceries or taking to the flea market are more or less big bags on wheels, no cages on wheels. Things have been globalized very much: the States are very much European like, but once in a while I see an unexpected difference! Totally unimportant, but a difference! Hope your day is filled with joy and your head isn't filled with totally unnecesary information like mine!

Oh Nancy, it's lovely! I love the delicate lace next to the metal. And the blue of the wheels. Perfect!
I used to see carts like that all the time in France. What a fun thing to have at home.

Hi Nancy!
I have 3 of these carts...one home here...stored in the trunk of my car...always at the ready...and two at the lake house..the extra one for any visitor that needs one. A wheeled cart is part of my standard flea marketing gear. I have dressed mine up pretty to take to flea markets but found that my brand of antiques are a little rough on pretty fabrics and started thinking that I could make a "better deal" if my cart wasn't so well dressed....therefore,I have dressed down recently! Having said all that....I never thought to use one in the house..I don't know why because I love all things wire and it looks charming and is practical! Thanks for helping me look at my carts in a new way!:) Laura

You can immediately turn any object into a work of art and beauty, Nancy. Such softness is just the feel I seek in everything around me, to cushion us from the harsh edges of the work day. Merci ma chèrie pour toutes ces belles images...

Nancy,

This is such a wonderful idea,
so pretty…

This would also work for wrapping paper,
those long rolls are always a pain to store.
Or a nice place to keep rolls of vintage wallpaper.
Or fill it up with gifts for a special birthday…
Ok I need a half dozen of these…

Louise

PS...Have a wonderful weekend....

Your vintage storage is gorgeous, Nancy! When you roll it does it go "squeak"? It looks like it should with those beautiful wheels and that pillow case is a dream!

Happy weekend to you too.

Oh I adore this! Just awesome Nancy! You've given me inspiration that I should find something tall and upright to hold my wallpapers rather than the way I have them on top of a shelf. Wonderful and beautiful work!

Nancy, your cart is absolutely gorgeous, and such a practical place for storing things. I have a cart like that that I need to line as well, so I may try to poach your wonderful ideas :)

Absolutely stunning. I want one of these so badly, but I don't have another inch in my little house to put one more pretty frilly treasure. I will envy you a bit today!

Have a wonderful weekend.

The cart with it's rustic metal frame and the contrast of the delicate old lacy trim on the silky soft pillow case makes for a lovely mix!

Hello Nancy,

Your cart came out beautiful. I love the idea of a millinery flower on it. I have one I made an insert for too. Since I use it at the flea markets I have a cup holder on mine.

Hi Nancy,
this it not my first visit to your blog but definitely my first comment. That basket looks fabulous. Handy and chic at the same time. I guess I'll steel your idea for this coming weekend, but unfortunately do not have such a beautiful monogrammmed pillowcase. And that millinery rose... so charmant. I love roses in all possible forms, hence the name of my blog - http://ritashabbychicrose.blogspot.com/
I'll be back again for more inspiration. Meantime I'll do some musing over your older posts.
With warm wishes
Rita
