Butterflies

Last month I had the opportunity to visit the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. My favorite exhibit was the rain forest exhibit with live birds and butterflies flying freely. It was a magical experience. The butterflies were everywhere flitting about and landing on people. It was heavenly to be near such delicate and beautiful creatures.

I didn’t want to leave. I felt a peace and comfort in that place, even with all the people and children running about. It was as if time was standing still as I stood there. It is an experience that I will carry with me forever.

Enjoy the photos.

Oh Nancy,

This is strange, but since I was a little girl, I have always had a not-so-calming reaction to BF....even as I look at your stunning photos, my skin is crawling!!!! I have a friend who has the same reaction to clowns! :)

Even so, your photos are breathtaking, but for me, I prefer being among furry mammals; I can't handle something flittering about me! Strange...I know.

HAVE FUN! Anita

Your photos are wonderful Nancy! Just reflecting how magical these creatures are. I could sit there for hours too and be quiet. Thinking of how it would feel to have such wings and fly and being happy. Thanks for sharing.

Nancy, they had a butterfly exhibit at my local zoo one year...it was absolutely magical...i get so excited when i have butterflies in my yard during the summer too...they are so delicate and pretty...love them...your photos are really stunning!!!

ps: i read your curly hair post too...my hair USED to be super curly...if i scrunched and put a dab of product on it, everyone thought i had just had a perm...LOL...as i have gotten older, it is just more wavy now...that in between ugly kind of curly...my hair is not my favorite feature...if i keep it short though, i can usually pull out the curl with a paddle brush and blowdryer...

Nancy these photos took my breath away! Just gorgeous. I too have been to a butterfly garden and it was an amazing experience for me. It was so wonderful to have those beautiful creatures sitting all over me and my little granddaughters. A day I will never forget.
I loved your curly girl post so much. I'm a curly girl and two of my daughters as well. I usually am ok with it, but do admit to straighting my hair quite often.

I had the same wonderful experience at a Butterfly sanctuary in far north Queensland here in Australia. Absolutely LOVED it, could have stayed in there for hours. I tried to take photos but mine werent half as nice as yours as my camera lense kept steaming up from the humidity!

Wow, I love your post, such gorgeous pics. I must go along with the crowd in claiming my favorite as the Bird and the Butterfly [sounds like a children's book] Such peaceful feeling are evoked by that picture, kinda like the Lion and the Lamb, or a dog and a cat sleeping together. Thanks for the blessing. Meg

Lovely photos! Thank you so much for sharing! We're members of the Academy and the Rainforest Dome is definitely my favorite exhibit. Sometimes I'll just pop in to spend a few minutes with the butterfly.

Hi Diana,

What a wonderful experience your husband and daughter had.

I'm actually getting ready to make some shoes soon. It's been pretty quiet in the creative department for me. Life has been overwhelmingly busy. Hope you get to read this. I couldn't find your email. Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you for the very nice comment Nancy!!!
I guess almost all of the miniaturists strides towards a wish that their dollhouse wil look like a real house....as much as possible. So it is very nice to read your lovely words!!!

And about the butterflies; I love the small and colorful ones...but those big grey/ brownish ones..uhh
Take care!
