A Place of Rest

Come, Rest Awhile

Come, rest awhile, and let us idly stray
In glimmering valleys, cool and far away.

Come from the greedy mart, the troubled street,
And listen to the music, faint and sweet,

That echoes ever to a listening ear,
Unheard by those who will not pause to hear

The wayward chimes of memory's pensive bells,
Wind-blown o'er misty hills and curtained dells.

One step aside and dewy buds unclose
The sweetness of the violet and the rose;

Song and romance still linger in the green,
Emblossomed ways by you so seldom seen,

And near at hand, would you but see them, lie
All lovely things beloved in days gone by.

You have forgotten what it is to smile
In your too busy life come, rest awhile.

Hi Nancy,
This makes me want to sit a spell and maybe nap on that bit of Heaven you have created there for yourself. I love the beautiful poem, it says so much of what I feel.
You have such a beautiful and restful spirit my friend!!!!

Dear Nancy,
Words that are a balm to my weary soul today...and from my dear Lucy Maud. Her books do take us back to that kinder, gentler time, when we took moments to enjoy all those "lovely things beloved in days gone by". Thank you for sharing yours with us, Nancy . Can we all fit in your cozy eiderdown nook?

Hi Nancy,
Your words are just the ticket for me this week. We are on spring break and I will seek an inspiring spot just like yours to rest and recharge my spirit with beauty and comfort. I came to the right place.

Hi Nancy,
Love the new look of your blog, and the spring look in your home. It was fun reading your answers, good for you for actually speaking up at that meeting (how brave you are, I would have thought of it after the meeting was over...)and stopping someone from saying hurtful words. More people need to do that.

Best wishes with the spring cleaning. I would imagine you are doing some rearranging at the same time. I can't seem to do one without the other (not that I am all that great at cleaning.) For some reason my computer always seems to have a meltdown when I try to leave you comments. I am technically challenged, so I am leaving you a comment here.
Enjoy spring!
Kate
