Deconstruction

The definition of deconstruct: to expose or dismantle the existing structure.

When I first saw this table, I fell in love with the legs. The top looks fine in this photo I took in March, but it was really a mess of peeling and cracked veneer. When I got it home, the dark wood top was a distraction from those beautiful legs. I lived with it for awhile.

Yesterday, I just couldn’t stand it anymore. I removed the old peeling wood top. I was so glad I did, because now the architecture of this lovely little table is even more impressive to me.

I purchased a thin piece of tempered glass and filled the center of the table with sparkling glass beads.

By removing the peeling tabletop, the beauty of those gorgeous legs can now be seen. It's a bit of architectural whimsy that brings a lot of fun to our room.

Oh I think the glass top was a great choice. It really showcases the graceful legs of the table.
