Thank you to everyone who left a comment on yesterday's post. My blogging friends, you made my day!
We’ve had a heat wave here this last week so I’ve been trapped inside. The break in the heat today gave me a chance to take a long walk. On my way home, I stopped in at a favorite flower shop. I love going into this shop because the arrangements and the assortment of flowers is always unique. I struck up a conversation with the owner, and noticed out of the corner of my eye a huge bunch of olive braches in a zinc bucket. I love using big branches in my kitchen. My crazy . . . ALL . . . brick kitchen. I’ve given up the idea of painting the brick. I’m not brave enough to do it. I’ve embraced the rustic look and tree branches on the fireplace look great.
I asked her how much for each branch. She said they were free and wrapped up the entire bunch and gave them to me. I looked ridiculous walking home with an armload of branches bigger than me!
When I got home, I put the branches in a gathering basket I’ve had for years. The branches are on their way out, but I’m going to see how they dry.
It’s that time of day to light candles. Here is another view into my bedroom-living room. See you all next week . . .

How beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Wishing you a weekend filled with fun and warmth~

Those olive branches are beautiful! I think they make quite a statement like this. Our last days in August seems like autumn already, rain, rain, rain. And when it rains it pours! I'm planning to go shopping today which can be done between the drops, but I'm afraid that the carboot sale tomorrow isn't going to happen :-(
Have a lovely weekend with your loved ones, bisous LiLi.
Gorgeous branches, and Nancy, I LOVE your new look! When I first arrived I thought, "Am I in the right place?" But I like the new white brightness, the font color, and of course, your elegance is everywhere. Beautiful!
Pure magic, Nancy. No need to paint....the love that abounds in this hearth is enough. I send you my love.....big brother, too. Bises, Anita
Dear sis,
I'll testify to your artistic decorating of your home, having seen it first hand. I love the brick myself, but I can see why a sort of distressed white/white wash painted brick would be appealing, as everything in your house has a sense of lightness and elegance (as opposed to rustic?). Anita and I love how you worked with the space you have, moved your bedroom into the front room with white wispy curtains. Truly beautiful.
Love to all,
Ruben
The branches look fabulous in that basket.
Hello Nancy! I love the idea of branches for decoration, especially in a rustic setting. Your house always looks so lovely! I am having fun decorating the castle, thanks for calling by! Rachaelxo
Those are olive branches? Do they smell as pretty as they look?
Hi Nancy. I haven't been by in the past couple of weeks, but now I'm here and Wowowowow! I love what you've done with the place! (The blog AND your house)
I'm loving the branches on the hearth. Very beautiful and rustic.
Hugs,
Kate
Everything is always so magical over here my friend...thank you for sharing your sweetness. xoxoxo
Nancy amor, how absolutely beautiful you make even a basket full of drying olive branches look :) We have been so busy in our home, both my girls came home from my mamis house and the craziness that ensued having them home has been amazingly wonderful! Even with all the loud laughter, bickering, hearing (well more like yelling..MAMI this or that) Well...I wouldn't change it for the world! Then getting all the last minute things ready for their return to school has been hectic to say the least...but I am sure sooo many other mamis totally understand this back to school commotion that we are going through I am sure not only in our home :) I have just did a new post the other day about our little afternoon trip to the beach...to say I came home refreshed and at peace mentally & emotionally would be putting it mildly, I hope you don't mind, but I mentioned you in a lil snippet towards the end in preparation for the sharing of "our" wonderful story :) Also...I completely forgot to share with you...I am so sorry but with everything going on, I just did :) Remember I told you about my friends son that was trying out for Varsity Football? Well not only did he make it! But they won their first game last week :) I am so excited & proud of him... Well amor, I think I have pretty much written you a book, maybe I should have just titled my comment my "Bella Nancy Post" My stars and to do that on your blog...so sorry, I high jacked it for a moment :) I hope everything is wonderful in your home and that life is bringing you many, many bella reasons to SMILE! I know every time I see my lil mermaid crown...my heart catches for a moment and I am actually starting to get good at not tearing up :) Besos & huge, huge hugs to you amor! Rose :)
At least someones blogging haha! My poor blog readers think I have abandoned them. I get emails all the time asking if I'm ok. So sweet! I just LOVE the basket with the natural branches. I am always clipping my Grandmothers overgrown Rosemary. I think I will borrow your idea when I visit her this week. Soo pretty!
Your branches look gorgeous up against the brick... how I would love a rustic kitchen... so stunning ... makes a lovely photo.....
I also adore your bedroom by candle light ... the soft glow makes it look so romantic and inviting...
I am happy you were able to take a walk and get some relief from the heat... its been awful here too... cant wait for fall... crisp clean air... sunny but not terribly hot days...
LOTS OF HUGS
