Paper Butterflies ~ Whimsy

Feeling like someone has tied my life to a speed boat these days. There are so many things going on, some amazing, some very challenging. Things got really crazy on Saturday. I called a time out to bring some sanity and peace back into my life by making paper butterflies and bringing out my fall decorations. Working with my hands and concentrating on something creative helped tremendously.

I had this perfect blue and gold paper for the butterflies. I used a double layer of it with a wire frame in the middle, so I could bend the butterflies and make them look like they had just landed on the wall.

Then I got distracted by the back of this chair. What is it about an old chair with good bones? Seriously, I'm a sucker for these.

Butterflies fluttering above the chair

A bit more whimsy is what the butterflies needed. I love this sweet little girl in her mama bird mask.

This little guy loves swinging from chandeliers. It's always a challenge to catch him and box him back up at the end of the season. If you like the paper butterflies, stay tuned. I'll be posting on how to make them in a few days.

How nIce!! I love butterflies and I have put them in our new office room too, I used another technique, but it is great to see how we share ideas, even if we don't know that of each other. And I love the Halloween chandelier swingers. I don't have any Halloween decoration up yet, as to me it is admitting summer is over. (It is over here, but I don't want it to be).

Unbelievably charming....do you make up the design of such paper wonders, or are you following a pattern, instructions? SOOOOOO GORGEOUS, and reminds me of our friend, Ulla...I need to contact her; how is she? LOVE YOU!!! Anita

My dear Nancy,
Your spirit -- that is communicated so beautifully in your posts -- is so....You just capture my heart. I absolutely love that picture of the girl in the bird mask watching over the birdies in the nest. Where in the world did you get it? Is it a page from a story?

I always appreciate your visits and comments to Rattus Scribus. "Tolkien Friendship" is something that has become increasingly clearer and important to me over the years. I had not thought about the competitiveness of sidebar "Followers." But I'll admit I can see that point, and even more (for me any way) the need for us humans to know that others out there are listening or find something in your posts that are inspiring, thoughtful or useful for their lives. For me it is like the minister who longs to see the fruit of his/her ministry. In my wildest dreams, I'd love to reach millions with messages that help them to think critically but constructively and to be inspired to goodness.

I love you et al,
Ruben
PS, I'll be calling you later today.

I know you live in a really small space, but it is a clean, lovely, organized space, and then you always have something new you can bring out. Where do you keep the seasonal things?

Nancy,

Your butterflies are scrumptious and I love your pumpkin hanging from the chandelier...

Hard to believe that fall is right around the corner ... cant wait....for crisp cool mornings and bright sunny days ...not too hot... throw the windows open and enjoy the cool breezes...

Will be looking forward to the tutorial ... what fun!!

Like you, I need to create things with paper and little snips of this and that to calm myself when things just get too hectic. Your butterflies are beautiful, Nancy. Hope you are doing well. xo Lidy

BEAUTIFUL butterflies!!! There is a local scrapbook supply store that did a whole mobile of them. A sort of chandelier and it was so beautiful. Nothing as fancy as yours with the elegant gold but what a sight to have those adorn a chandelier. You are so creative! Thanks for making my day!
